Course Information, Hours & Registration

The High-Fidelity Human Simulation Course will be held at the state-of-the-art simulation educational facility at the Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas (CSCLV) at the Shadow Lane Campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). It will precede the Las Vegas Review Course.

At the center of the course is the Laerdal SimMan® 3G human simulator. This high-fidelity, computer controlled simulator puts participants into realistic clinical situations with simulated emergencies that may be encountered during the provision of sedation and general anesthesia in dental offices. It allows teams to address these sedation emergencies in real time.

The educational objectives for this course include:

  1. Provide crisis management training to improve patient safety
  2. Expand clinical knowledge through hands-on training, observation and self-reflection
  3. Build confidence and enhance team performance
  4. Provide the opportunity to experience clinical scenarios that are infrequent in daily practice, but critical to anesthesia practice

On the day of the course, a group of four (4) participants will progress through four (4) rooms simulating various emergency scenarios. Practitioners are encouraged to bring three (3) staff members so that each group does every scenario as a team in order to accurately simulate an emergency in their office. The course is designed to allow staff members to learn and practice together.

March 14, 2024: March 14, 2024: There will be one session. EVERYONE (both GA and MODERATE) will arrive by 7am, enjoying a light breakfast followed by an introductory lecture. The hands-on portion will begin at 8:00am and will go until 1:00pm. This design will give each attendee a total of 6 CE hours. 1 in lecture and 5 hands on.

Course space is limited to provide each participant with a low student/faculty ratio and an optimal hands-on experience. Acceptance in the course requires receipt of your application and payment of the course fee. You can register by calling 312.664.8270.
