The High-Fidelity Human Simulation Course will be held at the state-of-the-art simulation educational facility at the Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas (CSCLV) at the Shadow Lane Campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). It will precede the Las Vegas Review Course.
At the center of the course is the Laerdal SimMan® 3G human simulator. It allows teams to address these sedation emergencies in real time.
The educational objectives for this course include:
An online pre-course video will be available to all participants to aid in preparation to optimize the course experience. Written pre-course study material will also be emailed before the course. The pre-course material will include study guides and manuals that can be incorporated into practice and staff emergency training.
On the day of the course, a group of four (4) participants will progress through four (4) rooms simulating various emergency scenarios. Practitioners are encouraged to bring three (3) staff members so that each group does every scenario as a team in order to accurately simulate an emergency in their office. The course is designed to allow staff members to learn and practice together.
There will be two sessions. The morning session will begin at 7:00 am with a light breakfast and will end around 12:30 pm; the afternoon session will start at 12:30 pm with light snacks and end around 6:00 pm. Transportation between the Aria hotel and the facility will be provided. The morning bus will leave by 6:45 am. The afternoon bus will leave by 12:00 pm.
